TPM

Today’s number reminds me of my favourite Lean Management System, Total Productive Maintenance.

I was lucky enough to be certified by my colleagues in Germany back in 2008 and prefer the original Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) 8 pillar model.

It is a common misconception that TPM is a maintenance programme, which is false and hugely undervalues this methodology.

TPM if correctly implemented has a real focus on operational excellence, and in particular, focuses on Productivity and Quality improvement as well as a strong direction on effective project management techniques and even procurement and purchasing.

So there we go, the 8 Pillars of TPM.
