The problem being how to ensure all the cleaning and simple maintenance checks are done everyday and that it is shared out within the team, across the 16 hours a day that this public recreation facility is open.
I was very impressed with this working example of a task leveling board and it is engaging, fun and effective to effectively manage these mundane chores in a fair but effective way.

Each of the tasks are kept in their respective “lucky Draw” bucket, that are tastefully up-cycled washing powder containers given a colourful make over.

“Jay” gets to empty lost property and cleans the vacuum bag and ensures the filter is taken out and cleaned and propeller is cleared.

So to wrap it all up, this is continuous improvement in action. They weren’t getting these tasks done, or if they were it seemed to be the same people who kept on top of things.
Now everyone has a fair amount of tasks and they’re getting done efficiently.
It’s amazing what happens when you give people training, a PDCA mindset and most importantly time to work on problem solving as a team.
