At Home With Toyota II

During my Japan Study Tour in 2012 we paid a visit to Toyota Home, the home building division of Toyota automotive. The “Smart Gallery” was essentially a show home which displayed the design and construction of their homes and allowed the visitor to see how Toyota had implemented some of their thinking into haouse building.

The basic modules are prefacbricated based on steel framing combined with wooden frames to make this a portable structure, easy to build and transport to site for installation.

I did a little calculation and although these are reasonably priced, the cost of shipping them to New Zealand would be prohibitive, but sorely tempting. Typically the spaces are small but well appointed by our standards.

Heres a few pics to give you the full tour.
